Liz Maynard began her flying life working as a young staff cadet at an Air Experience Flight, a unit within the Air Training Corps in the U.K. There she spent every weekend and vacation strapping and unstrapping fellow cadets in and out of DeHavilland Chipmunks in return for a few minutes flying at the end of each day. Since then she has flown both professionally and in her own time, flying many different aircraft, from gliders to jets. She has also worked as an instructor and airline pilot.
