For the first time in the event’s history, LifeFlight hosted a full field of players and even had to turn away teams who waited too long to register. One hundred and forty four golfing aficionados turned out to raise money for LifeFlight, the state’s only emergency medical helicopter service. Thanks to businesses across Maine and New Hampshire who donated items toward a raffle and live auction, LifeFlight raised more than $4,000 during that portion of the event. When combined with sponsor and player contributions, the golf tournament raised a total of nearly $25,000, all of which will go directly to support LifeFlight’s mission of providing the best critical care transport to people in Maine, whenever and wherever they need it
“The crew and staff at LifeFlight were incredibly humbled by the enormous support we received from business partners and teams,” said Thomas Judge, LifeFlight of Maine Executive Director. “Each year the number of calls for LifeFlight to care for critically ill and injured patients increases, making our fundraising efforts throughout the year essential to meet patient needs.”
The competition was fierce, and we are happy to announce the following prize winners: First place gross went to the team of Jim Pelletier, Jake Verrill, Ricky Blouin and Rick Dostie from the Auburn Fire Department; second place gross went to Dickie Brigance, Roland Abbott, Dave Renfro and Ken Desmond from Wiscasset EMS; and third place gross went to the team from Maine Oxy, Tom Cyr, Tom Bosse, Neal Witas and Ron Delssandro.
