Prouts Neck and Connecticut resident Audrey Cadwallader continues to work on behalf of LifeFlight. Earlier this year, she completed another wild adventure, and worked to raise money for LifeFlight along the way. She travelled to Antarctica to ski from the 89th degree latitude to the 90thdegree, better known as the South Pole. After an 8-day, frigid trek to the South Pole, she successfully climbed Vinson Massif in the Sentinel mountain range. At 16,050 feet above sea level, it is one of the “7 Summits,” the highest mountain peaks on each of the seven continents.
She took the trip in honor of her son, Tim, who five years ago experienced a horrific car accident, but whose life was saved by the air medical helicopter services that came to his rescue. As a way to give back, she raised awareness and funds for LifeFlight of Maine, the emergency medical helicopter service in Maine—another place on Earth where the landscape, geography and people feed her spirit.
Even though it’s much warmer now, Audrey is continuing to raise money for LifeFlight.
“As my summer in Maine comes to a close, I’m once again reminded of how special a place it is to live. The warm season here feels like a luxury when I think back to my winter trip to the South Pole. I’m so thankful to the many people who helped me surpass my goal of $16,050 and raise almost $18,000! But I feel like we can do even more.
